Indeed, the fuel surprising of the new economy Chevrolet Camaro enhance the driving experience. LS and LT-EPA models rated at 18 mpg in the city and 29 on the national highway with an automatic transmission and 17 city and 29 Highway with manual transmission. Chevrolet Camaro SS with a self-assessment is at 16 city and 25 highway, and 16 city/24 highway with manual transmission. Notably, none of Chevrolet Camaro model is subject to federal gas guzzler tax.

To compare, the more expensive 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 provide horsepower equivalent to the Chevrolet Camaro SS with manual transmission – 425 (317 kW) vs. 426 (318 kW) – and is EPA-rated at 14 city and country Highway 22. When the equipment automatically compare models, the Chevrolet Camaro win again, with the Challenger SRT8 rated at 13 City and 19 Highway.

All engines of Chevrolet Camaro channel their power to meet a chassis that features independent front and back suspensions, large, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and standard GM StabiliTrak control system stability electronics.

3.6L direct injection V-6

Chevrolet Camaro’s 3.6L direct injection (DI) V-6 delivers additional power through enhanced efficiency, while maintaining the economy and reduce fuel emissions – including a 25-percent in the cold pull-start hydrocarbon emissions. Directly injected fuel to optimize the distribution Combustion chamber for introduction of fuel closer to Combustion chamber. The fuel injectors are located beneath the Intake port and fuel is injected directly into the cylinder. The result is better performance in the Combustion fuel leading to increased efficiency at part and full throttle.

The production of DI 3.6L engine 304 horsepower (227 kW) at 5900 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of Torque (370 Nm) at 5200 rpm. The level of its 60-cylinder block and cylinder heads are cast aluminum to reduce mass. A forged steel crankshaft provides optimal strength in the bottom end. The cylinder head, includes four valves per cylinder, with dual camshaft design fee of infinitely variable cam phasing.

Full dual exhaust system with dual catalytic Converters, to help reduce pressure for power optimization. It also allows the engine to achieve operating temperature more quickly to help burn off cold-start emissions. And although a compression ratio of 11.3:1, the 3.6L DI engine is designed to run on regular gas.

Chevrolet Camaro SS’s 6.2L powertrains

Two engine 6.2L V-8 offered in the Chevrolet Camaro SS, including the new L99-equipped automatic vehicle guidance and LS3 model of equipment. Both engines are derived from the LS3 that debuted on the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette.

The 90-degree V-8 include an aluminum block (with cast iron cylinder liners) and the aluminum cylinder. The bottom end of the tool includes a new structure of cast aluminum oil pan, oil capacity 8.9 quarts (8.5 liters), while two-valve cylinder head design was based on race-dynamics demonstrated atmosphere. The Intake valves measure 2.16 inches (55 mm) and exhaust valves are 1.60 inch (40.5 mm) in diameter.

The 6.2L engine also uses a roller lifter camshaft style with a 5-percent larger Intake valve-lift than the Corvette’s LS3. It management atmosphere that is channeled through an acoustically tuned Intake manifold with a design that reduces the runner-to-runner variation. Is the throttle bore diameter 90 mm.

Horsepower for the L99 is 400 (298 kW) at 5900 rpm and 410 lb.-ft. Torque is (556 Nm) at 4300 rpm. The LS3 developing 426 horsepower (318 kW) at 5900 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. (569 nm) at 4,600 rpm (all numbers are SAE certified). Results on the L99 lower LS3 for a slighter lower compression ratio (10.4:1 vs. 10.7:1) and design features of the management system Fuel operation. The L99 is paired exclusively with an automatic transmission.

As with the 3.6L model, the SS model to a full dual exhaust system with two catalytic Converters to reduce the pressure again.
